Scrapbooking!! My senior year of high school we were given the assignment in one of our classes to make a scrapbook of our memories. I got really into it and mom and I made it into alot of fun. I can not tell you how much money we spent driving to Clinton to get more and more stuff! When I graduated college I knew I had to make one to remember all my college friends and memories as well. I wanted to share with y'all some of my pages I have done and some pointers that I like to use on my pages! Maybe this can jump start you to starting a scrapbook!

First I love to choose fun/bright paper as my backdrop:

Then make a cute heading for your page:

Then choose about 4-5 photos to put on your page. I like to cut mine and make some circles, some small, some vertical, some horizontal to add a different look then all horizontal large photos:

Then staying with your color pallet of your back drop paper add some cute details. I love to add ribbon, photo frames, flowers, and jewels.

Finally if you have a little extra space and do not know what to do with it, sometimes on my pages I will do a little box and actually write who is in the pictures. 25 or 30 years from now you are not going to remember exactly who everyone is:

Hope this helps! It really is fun to do and in 30 years it will be great to look back on. Enjoy the day!

Graced Events

To be honest today I had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to write about and share with my readers. I was reading through a couple of my devotional books and bible trying to get inspired. I felt like I couldn't find anything that really spoke to me but it did get me to thinking. Sometimes do you feel like your relationship with Christ kind of gets stuck in a rut? Do you sometimes feel like your spiritual life is mediocre? Do you feel like you have done wrong if something doesn't go as planned or go your way? Then I came across this passage:

"Suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone but Jesus alone with them."
Mark 9:8

This passage made me start to think. Jesus was always thrown unplanned moments in his life. Sick people were brought to him. The disciples expected him to feed a hungry crowd. He had to deal with the unexpected storm on the Sea of Galilee. Yet these unplanned experiences turned out to be graced moments. Even his terrible death turned out to be a graced moment for himself and for us. Jesus managed to trust the Father and entrust himself to the Father. Maybe we need to change our attitude's toward the unplanned things that break in our life. Things that are not only unplanned but also interfere with plans we have made. A large number of unplanned events in our lives are not easy or even pleasant. Maybe we should try to see them as graced moments, times when the Lord is specially present to help us do something very good. We need to sit back and remember it is about the kind of life Jesus makes possible for us and be thankful. Live in his grace it makes all the difference in the world!

Spend some quiet time with the Lord.

BeFit.

Guest post, guest post, guest post. I am going to have, Molly helping me out with my BeFit post's every once in a while. She is a great friend of mine I met my freshman year at Ole Miss. She moved back to Kansas after our freshman year and starting teaching fitness classes at K State. She now teaches fifth grade and I know her students love her. So here is her first post. Thanks so much Molly!

Looking for a new way to enhance your workout, lose inches off your hips and thighs, and improve the texture of your skin all at the same time? I encourage you to try out HotPants created by a company from the UK called Zaggora. I first found them in a Groupon Deal. I did a little research and then thought I better give them a run for their money. It took almost 2 months to get my order but I finally received them. I try to wear them every time I work out. I do not hang in them though once I am done with exercise as they are drenched in sweat and certainly not the most dry- fit, breathable clothing I've been in. But, they do increase the temperature of my muscles 4 times faster and add resistance to my workout. I have run, walked, and completed elliptical workouts in the HotPants and my legs have definitely benefited. My skin is softer and smoother! If you look to add a pair of HotPants to your wardrobe I advise you to try and catch them on a Groupon Deal. :) I would personally choose no other color than black and probably stick to the crop length. Just my opinions though.

Have a great day. Try something new, get outside, and do things that make you happy.

So this is what we planted!! NOT!

I love working in the yard and having beautiful plants but I am as far from having a green thumb as anyone can get! So I recruited some help to get 1024 Pinehurst's yard ready for spring/summer. We have our neighbors to the left beat for sure but all the other houses on our street are homes that have pristine yards. Thanks to the help of my good friend Rachel and my mom I thought I would share with y'all a little of my gardening knowledge I have gained just in case you want to do some yourself and enjoy this amazing weather!! First I had to learn what annual and perennial meant (yeah I know, nooo plant knowledge here). Perennial lives longer than two years. Annual last for a year. The perk I found with annuals is each year you can pick new and different plants but each year you have to spend more money (the negative)! Next, I asked Rachel to help me with some empty pots I have on my front porch. The first thing Rachel said was the 3 words: Spiller, Filler, Thriller???? I thought about it and thought about it, not knowing what step to take next. She explained,

Spiller:
Every pot needs a plant that "spills" out of it. I like potato vine or wandering jew.
Filler:
Each pot needs plants that "fills" all the empty space. I like lantana or coleus.
Thriller:
Each pot needs a big plant coming up out of the middle to "thrill" the eye. I like fox glove or shrimp plant or Louisiana iris.

Inspiration! Spill, Fill, Thrill!

What I started with.

What I finished with!! No not really but I wish!

A few of my final products!!

(tomato plant)

Enoy the day! Go green!

 Happiness

Are you happy? True happiness is God's will for us. God is a good and loving God and only wants the best for each of us. What does God say it takes to make happiness? So often we search for happiness in things dictated by society, in possessions, success, prestige, or fun. We think we will be happy if we can get what we want. Each of us spend alot of time and energy pursuing happiness. We act as if it is owed to us. It seems that happiness is the same as or comes from being blessed. Genuine happiness comes from God's hand and blessings. It seems that true happiness is closely related to our relationship with God. As God reveals himself to us, our love and trust for Him will grow stronger and we will experience His blessings and Presence in our lives each day. Knowing God personally will then lead you to you knowing His perfect plan and purpose for your life. When you begin to appreciate what you already have, you'll begin to experience the joys of life and true happiness.  Actually, you already have everything you need to live a joyful life. You have Christ. You have eternal life. You are loved by a heavenly Father who has promised to supply all your needs. If you really want to be happy, learn to be thankful for what you have and not covet what you don't have. SOOO don't worry, be happy!

Verse:

Proverbs 16:20

Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.

This is a recipe that a friend of mine made me when I was studying for my nursing school boards. I have made them a few times myself for my roommates and they are a HUGE hit! I usually make a batch and give atleast half away! Excuse all the butter!

2/3 cup honey
1 egg
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
12 teaspoon salt
3 cup oatmeal
1 cup chocolate chip

How to:
1. Heat oven to 350
2. Melt 1 1/4 cup butter in mixing bowl
3. Add egg (stir well)
4. Add honey, vanilla, flour, baking powder, salt, oatmeal, and chocolate chips (make sure it is mixed well)
5. Press into a pyrex dish and cook for 10-12 minutes
6. Once cooled cut into small squares

Literally just mix all the ingredients together. Impossible to mess up!

Here are 2 more ab moves to add to your summer beach body prep routine!! I have begun my countdown for my family beach trip and it will be here before I know it. Time to get serious!!!

We are almost there!! (YEAH RIGHT)!

1.  Standing in front of a mirror grab a pair of weights. (I usually use 10's or 12's). Hold the weights in your hands. With the right arm bend down reaching the weight toward your knee. Return to your hip area and repeat 10 times. Then switch and reach your left arm down toward your knee. Do 10 times. Repeat x 3. (totally 30 on each side)

2. Lay down like you are going to do a regular crunch. Turn your palms facing upward and slightly lift your head and shoulders off of the mat. Start with your right hand and reach for your ankle. Alternating R, L, R, L for 30. Repeat x 2. Make sure to keep shoulders and head slightly elevated off of the mat.

Framed Jewelry Holder

This is what I am going to attempt to make!

What you will need:
Picture frame
Paint
Paint brushes
2 packs of 12' picture wire
staple gun
sand paper (if desired)

To Do:

1. Paint the frame

2. Sand and distress it to get the look you want.
3. Next take a piece of the wire and lay it across the back of the frame. I folded it over three times so that I had three strands folded together. Make the length a little longer than the edge of the frame. (I made it 3 thick to make the hanging wire a little thicker).

4. Staple the wire to the frame on one end.

5. Then twist the wires loosely so they hold together, but loose enough so you can stick a post earring through there if you want (I actually braided mine so I could hang the earrings).

6. Spacing wise staple one directly in the middle. Then space the other two to make the wires even.

7. Staple the opposite end.
8. Hang your earrings on it and enjoy!!
